Redemption?....Please

The pop-culture world has been abuzz recently at the 'return' of Britney Spears. People are excited that she is back on top of the charts and seems to have gotten her life together.

Let's cut through the fat...

Her new song 'Womanizer' is terrible, and all the music she has ever done; save the song 'Lucky', has been awful. Her looks and star-power covered up the fact that she had no talent but her breakdown made it all clear. Britney Spears has an average voice, is an average dancer, is dumb as a rock, and thinks she's one of America's most important people....What's not to like?

Yet people celebrate her as our 'Pop Princess' and are so happy she's doing well and is back on top. She is an absolute joke of a human being. At the height of her success, she was a complete fraud. She has always had a fake persona in front of the camera and lies in every interview. She has sat down for multiple 'coming clean' 20-20 type interviews and every one of them is still just filled with lies. She is warped by her success and likely has severe mental disorders along with her amazing stupidity. When she was popular she was 'a virgin' and told numerous people in interviews in detail about why she was waiting. Then she said she lost her virginity to Justin Timberlake, and now it appears she lost it much earlier and had probably nailed half of South Louisiana by her 16th birthday.

I must admit, I did and do feel bad for her in the breakdown she had and I guess I'm glad she's doing better but that doesn't mean I have to like her. I tried to watch her new MTV reality thing and I couldn't stomach more than 1 minute. She sits there and talks to people, clearly aware of the cameras and showing off the 'new Britney'. As always, this is just more B.S. At the end of the day all she has ever been and will ever be is... (check this diagnosis) Manic-Depressive, stupid trailer trash.

She is a better looking version of people I know (maybe in my family) and see on a daily basis. Why should she be celebrated? It would be one thing if she was honest or real, or if she had Christina Aguilera's talent, but she doesn't. She sings crappy songs with her crappy voice. Without her looks she is nothing, and after two kids and the scent of K-Fed on her-she doesn't seem that hot any more.

As an aficionado and appreciator of pop-culture, my hatred for our Princess may surprise you. But deal with it, she sucks.

Dismal

I had the misfortune of attending yesterday's debacle at Sanford Stadium and it just furthered the depression I have been feeling about our football team. There are a million details to go over and discuss but as has been the case recently, I simply do not have the energy. It comes down to the basic problem that we are incapable of playing enough defense to win. Our offense by no means was perfect yesterday but we scored 42 points. If you can't win with that, you don't deserve to. I preface this by saying that I love Mark Richt, I would want no one else as our head coach and I hope he stays as our head coach until he is ready to retire...

However, in my opinion yesterday was the 5th time he was out coached this season. Now I am aware that he does not set the defensive game plan nor call the plays but he is the man in charge and the buck stops with him. We came out flat in the second half and gave up 26 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter, I find that unacceptable-particularly allowing that to happen at the hands of a team where we have far superior physical talent. It is baffling, depressing, ridiculous...

The other games I feel he got out-coached in:

-Alabama-Came out unbelievably flat, we weren't ready to play. 31-0 in the first half, really?
-Florida-Granted they probably had us out maned but to be dominated that badly, and for there to be murmurs that the team gave up or quit, hmmmmm.
-Kentucky-Not a bad team, tough game. But again, we have far superior talent and the team got lackadaisical. Where's the killer instinct?
-Auburn-An awful team this year, seemed to be more ready to play than we were and nearly got us.

Again, I love Richt and realize he can't help players not doing their jobs, his assistants not having their units properly prepared, etc. I just know he can do better and I think we've got the talent here to do so. I don't know what exactly needs to be done, but something has got to change.

And now, we have no fun bowl game to look forward to. Ohio State is likely now in the BCS since Oregon State lost so I would assume we will have the distinct honor of playing Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl. Whoopty damn doo.

Anyway, one thing yesterday's game did do for me was re-ignite and further my hatred for GA Tech. They are like a little brother trying to be as good as his big brother. I despise that school and their fans, case in point...

A young GA Tech fan and his girlfriend are in the UGA alumni section where I am sitting. He is probably 22 or 23 and is loud and obnoxious the entire first half. He felt it appropriate to turn around to us and point after 1st downs and to taunt us after big plays. After we took the lead 28-12 a brawl nearly ensued as he was unmercifully taunted by about 10 UGA fans, yours truly included but we aren't talking about drunks here-other than a couple of younger guys-most of our fans were 40-60 and dead sober. This jackass continued to run his mouth in the second half and again nearly incited a riot when he grabbed a probably 17 year old 'kid' in front of him to taunt him. This 'kid' was probably 275 lbs and the Techie was probably 5'9", 165 lbs, so no match. The 'kid's' dad had to be restrained and was within inches of killing the Techie. Other than a couple minor dust-ups that was pretty much the end of his obnoxious behavior, but I was just baffled. How do you think it would be appropriate to go into another school's section and talk trash to everyone and taunt them? Did he really think he wouldn't get his ass kicked?

Regardless, that idiot and others I encountered re-ignited my hatred for Tech and I can't wait to beat them again and go reign blows upon their fans. This picture below about sums it up...

Oh and one other thing. I caught to 16 year old Tech fans discussing doing something similar to this player. Let's just say physical harm was threatened and would have been carried out should they have gone through with it.

And now...the finale. Oh and other stuff too

After a very frustrating UGA season where expectations were not met, we now are about to close out the regular season.

I'm not saying this has been a bad year, can't complain about 10 wins but my main gripe has been the fact that I finish every game feeling like we could've played much better. I just feel we have so much talent and the right coaches to really be a much stronger team. That being said though, we've been decimated with injuries and 2 gut wrenching blowouts yet have still managed to take care of the rest of our schedule. Let's hope we can finish it off right with 2 more wins.

Now I'm not even close to being 100% correct with my opinions or predictions on anything but I'd say my initial gut feeling is right quite often. The past 2 seasons I verbalized my gut feelings about the Florida game and was correct both years. This year against Alabama I had a negative vibe, I still thought we'd win but something was there deep inside my 'chi'. I say all this because that feeling of misery and doubt has again creeped inside me this week as we host the biggest bunch of Nerds this side of Mars. I don't want to say I think we'll lose but I just have a bad feeling. Our defense has been nothing short of inconsistent and our offense has issues finishing drives. I'd love to think we'll have this corrected by Saturday but I just don't know. I fear that we may need to summon the ghost of Reggie Ball to help us pull out a victory, but we shall see.

I've had difficulty summoning the passion to write about UGA football lately but it is never far from my mind. As we near the finish of this year we face the uncertainty of this year's "Who's Staying/Who's Going?". I pray that both Knowshon and Stafford stay for a potential run at a title next year but I'm not holding my breath. With the rookie salaries in the NFL likely to dwindle after this year, I wouldn't be surprised to see them both gone. I have another 'gut' feeling that Stafford is the more likely to stay but again, who knows? I can't talk about it anymore, it's making me upset.

And now I'd love to share a random thought/idea of how to enhance the human experience. Given that this would likely be considered a hazard and highly illegal by law enforcement, I can only offer this idea as a hypothetical but I would secretly support it to the max should any loon actually put it into action.

The idea is this: 'Interstate Dance Party'
Many Americans sit in gridlock traffic on our highways on a daily basis. Many of these highways have 4-6 foot median walls that could easily be stood or even danced on. It would provide me, and I imagine many others, much pleasure to see a group of activists attempt to cheer up the traffic by having an interpretive dance party on the median walls. Granted, this may cause accidents but I certainly would look forward to my commute knowing that some broke hippie may be waiting to entertain me through the art of dance on my way home. This really is hard to explain my vision of how humorous this would be, hopefully some of it came through.

One final thought/story/rant:

I'm walking through a Mall food court last week and pass a black gentleman as he approaches a black female pushing a stroller. I am right beside him as he smiles at her, a total stranger, and says "Change is Coming" and continues walking. It is certainly understandable for there to be excitement that a black man has been elected President, but how pathetic is it that people like this guy are so focused on race that they feel the need to say something like that to a stranger who just happens to be the same race as him (3 weeks after the election no less). Our country will never move past these issues until people realize a few things:
-We are all human
-We are all equal
-People can't help what color they are born-you can only help how you act
-You can't change the past, just affect the future
-Asian people hate us all, don't trust them

God Bless.

Post-Election Thoughts

I am torn with conflicting thoughts and emotions today as I ponder the impending Presidency of our President-Elect Barack Obama. Throughout his campaign I have been a vocal opponent of his because of his record and his ideas for America. I am a Federalist and do not agree with or support the idea of a large national government so there is no way I could ever see myself seeing anywhere near eye to eye with a Democrat. I do however acknowledge that good leadership does not always involve pushing one’s own beliefs onto others who may or may not be of like mind. I hope and pray that Barack Obama is the leader he portrays himself to be. As Americans, we get the distinct opportunity to elect a leader every four years. Whether or not we vote for the person who wins, it is our civic duty to support the decision of the majority and to respect the office of the President of our United States.

So as I sit here today I am waving my white flag and preparing to support a man as the leader of my country. I pray that he will be a true leader, not a partisan politician as we have long seen in this country. We all need to respect and allow Mr. Obama the chance to lead and to see if he lives up to his word that he will be everyone’s President, not just the leader of those who voted for him. Good leadership is not a partisan quality; my ideals align fairly close on many issues with the current President but that does not mean I feel he is a good leader. George W. Bush’s divisiveness and inability/unwillingness to clearly communicate to the American people has left the country in the state it is in today.
People are hungry for leadership and now someone, Barack Obama, has a chance to truly attempt to lead.

I honestly feel that this will be a chance that Mr. Obama will waste but I have learned not to assume. For when you assume, my friends, you make an ASS of U and ME. I am burying my preconceptions and opinions for a few months-show me Democracy Mr. President Elect, show me unity: please don’t show me a socialist agenda and try to ram it down my throat.

God Bless America

Massacre on the St. Johns

My lack of posting as of late has been a disgrace to the handful of friends who apparently enjoy the ramblings on this blog. For that, I apologize.

I had a lot of positive thoughts a couple of weeks ago after the Dawgs trounced LSU but in all honesty my joy was short-lived. I woke up on Sunday after the LSU game with the realization that we were in all likelihood going to get overwhelmed on Saturday against the Gators. I just had a bad feeling in my gut. Now I tried to envision some positive scenarios and even sought some advice from some sages (Scott,Karl,Matt T.,Mookie) but nothing I heard could give me any true relief from my gut feeling. Unfortunately the feeling I had was correct. We were out-manned, out-coached, out-everythinged...

I can't even bring myself to watch a replay for any insight into this game. Did we play bad? Yes. Is Florida that much better than us? No. It was just one of those days. They had a better game plan, had more intensity, got the breaks, etc. Was it classless of Urban Meyer to call 2 late timeouts? Yes. But you know, what really irks me is that it even came to that. We have too good of a team and too good of a program to play against ANYONE and have that be an issue. We should never have been down 49-10 like that but... it is what it is.

One area that the Gators lost in, at least in my experience of the weekend, was partying. I saw some of the most hardcore partying (not the porn site) I have ever seen and the majority of our group is 4 + years out of college. We had a lovely little home a block from the beach on St. Simons and turned that place into an absolute breeding ground of mayhem and destruction. We had an absurd Halloween party w/ ridiculous costumes which included; Joe the Plummer,John McCain,Sarah Palin,a Construction worker,2 Scottish horndogs,an inmate,an 80's mom and prom queen,Tequilla Man,Superman,Wonderwoman, and my personal favorite-some sort of Richard Simmons-esque fitness class leader. Too much happened to go into but I am stunned the house was still standing at the end of the night.

Saturday culminated with a lot of hangovers and the arrival of a bus to take us to Jacksonville. The ride was filled with a lot of people dealing w/ very full bladders and no bathroom. Of the numerous exits off the bus to urinate on the side of the road, the best had to be a female who got off the bus and attempted to enter a doctor's office to pee. When the door was locked she decided to squat behind a column about 5 feet from the door of this office. Oh, and in case you were wondering-the lobby was full of patients who no doubt were in sheer amazement at what they saw. Among other events yours truly also nearly incited a riot with some ill-timed remarks in bad taste which I truly regret making, but it was dealt with and the day went on. Oh and before I forget, another favorite moment from the ride to the game involved our man Mook-Dawg getting off the bus on the highway to keep a Gator's car from merging into us.

Let's skip the game. Had great seats and watched us get killed, I think someone lost their girlfriend and some other folks about got in about 60 fights over a 2 hour period but that's neither here nor there.

And then came the ride home. Never in my life have I seen such a scene:
-Nearly 30 drunken people yelling and dancing to any music that came on the radio.
-At least 4 impromptu dance parties where probably 10+ bus patrons got off the bus and attempted to seduce pedestrians and other vehicles with their erotic and exotic dancing.
-A man who we believe to be 30+ years old stripping down nude and giving almost every single person on the bus a lap dance and swinging all up and down the bus with his over-sized package flopping around
-A gas station stop with 10 men peeing on the side of a Subway
-Two men hanging from rails at the top of the bus engaging in the single most acrobatic simulated dance/sex act I have ever seen and will see. Words cannot begin to do this particular scene justice.

I'm sure I forgot some things and events worth noting but hopefully the feeling of the weekend will come through in the words that have been written.

And onward we go; we've still got 3 regular season games left and a chance to get back in the top 10 w/ a 10-win season. Then we can spend 8 more months talking about how next year will be 'the year'. I, for one, will savor the rest of this season though. I still love this team and want to see us start to realize our potential.

God Bless,

Les

Week 6

Because I was at a wedding, I missed much of the UGA game on Saturday. I saw the 4th quarter but not enough to get a real feel for the game.

From what I saw, heard, and read it sounds like we dominated but made some ill-timed mistakes. As always; an SEC win is sweet no matter who you play or what the score.

Unfortunately, I don't have much more on that but I am excited for these next 3 weeks. Just 3 weeks to decide if this will be a Capital One or Outback Bowl year or a possible SEC/National Championship year. We have not played anywhere near our potential yet, lest us forget-we hadn't at this time last year either. Not to say we will run the table, but who's to say we can't and won't. If we play how we can, there is no reason we can't win the rest of these games and go to Atlanta to play for what should be a birth in the National Championship.

The rest of the season starts this week. It's time to buckle down and look good on both sides of the ball and on the line of scrimmage. I'm looking for a blowout against Vandy with us converting touchdowns out of good drives, not field goals. Then, it is off to the races, should be exciting...

Brook

While watching Sunday football this past weekend, my associates and I noticed the ever-declining play of Falcons linebacker Keith Brooking. If you were to ever take the time to sit and watch an entire Falcons game, you would notice that he contributes absolutely nothing to the team on the field. I know he is a little older, on the down side of his career, and used to be a good/very good player; but that doesn't matter...the man went to GA Tech. And for that, he has become the subject of ridicule and now a new segment. However, it should be noted that some of the jokes might be compliments-we do like our character even though he isn't very good at football.

I cannot and will not take full credit for this, it is a ripped off idea from the Chuck Norris jokes made famous in recent years. Matt T and Corky also join me in creating these thoughts, ideas, and jokes. I figure we'll continue to come up with these throughout the season but just wanted to get a few out there for public enjoyment. Bare in mind this is not contrived with any disrespect to the actual Keith Brooking, it is just a character of Keith Brooking we see as we watch on Sunday. I hear he is a model human being and a helluva nice guy.

Warning: This may be moderately to extraordinarily vulgar. If this is a problem for you, stop reading now. When the name Keith Brooking appears from here on out, it is in reference to the character-not the football player or the man.

-When Keith Brooking makes a tackle, God gets a migraine
-Keith Brooking makes the entire defense watch him masturbate before each game
-Keith Brooking invented the game 'Limp Biscuit'
-Keith Brooking masturbates with Icy Hot
-Keith Brooking is a verb
-Keith Brooking gave birth to himself
-Keith Brooking has a landing strip
-Every offensive player in the NFL is on birth control because each of them is acutely aware that at some point in the season Keith Brooking will f*ck them up
-Keith Brooking doesn't drive a truck, he is one
-Keith Brooking teaches Pilates at halftime
-Keith Brooking is the World's premier 'Pop-n-Lock' dancer
-Keith Brooking has a green thumb
-Keith Brooking majored in p*ssy at GA Tech
-If Keith Brooking was blind, he could still see
-Keith Brooking once had sex with an Elk just to prove he could
-Keith Brooking penned the original script for 'The Karate Kid'
-Keith Brooking counts a leprechaun among his friends
-Keith Brooking wipes his ass with opposing quarterbacks
-Keith Brooking was President in 1947
-On this day in 1980, Keith Brooking was a bad ass

And we will close with the same one every time....

-Keith Brooking is Keith Brooking

And now for a little humor

Look at this f*cking picture. Is this dude serious? Does he look at himself in the mirror and think he looks good? Is he thinking he's sexy with that seductive look?

The answer to those questions is yes and in case you aren't aware:

His name is Camillo Villegas. He is a Spanish immigrant who is a Florida Gator. His current occupation is Professional Golfer. He wears tight and hideous clothing. He seems not to believe in Shampoo or any type of hair cleaning product.

Week 5

"Black-out Saturday" quickly became "Black Saturday" just after 8 pm on Saturday night. The first half was a shocking display of dominance by Alabama and an absolute horror to see for UGA fans. I will not be watching a replay of this game to gather my thoughts or attempt to analyze what happened, emotionally I cannot take it.

I can't bear to look at pictures of the game so no picture for this week's wrap-up.

Alabama is very good and deserves all the credit for their win but I still feel UGA is a top 5 team in contention for the National Championship. We knew going into this season that going undefeated probably wasn't going to happen. Well, we lost a game and yes...the first half was worse than anyone could have dreamed. However, we won the 2nd half convincingly and I promise you-the coaches of Alabama DO NOT want to see us again.

The most concerning/distressing thing for me in the game was our lack of defensive intensity in the first half. I hope Willie Martinez finally realizes now that we are not going to be successful sitting back in zone coverage against teams that have talent. After the debacle in the first half I think we got aggressive and pinned our ears back and went after Alabama; but too little, too late.

Did we get dominated on the line of scrimmage in the first half? Yes
Did we look terrible on both sides of the ball in the first half? Yes

However, the 2nd half was better in many regards. I've already written more about the game than I wanted to, this is one of those that will be discarded into the 'forget about it' tank.

We've got 2 weeks to re-group and get back after it. Hell, we win the next 4 weeks and I assure you we are right back in this thing. Things are not as bad as pessimists think right now, positive energy will revive this thing.

Week 4

Going out to beat Arizona State to was kind of like having to ace an addition test on a Monday morning after being drunk all weekend, it is only tough because of the circumstances.

UGA was clearly the better team on Saturday night and would be on any night against the Sun Devils, but the fact that we traveled across the country to do it made it more impressive. This was, as Coach Richt described, a 'business trip'. The Dawgs definitely took care of business.

The Dawgs came out slow offensively but the defense showed early and often that Arizona State was not going to be able to run the ball. Rennie Curran played outstanding once again, showing his uncanny knack to move laterally with the play and then explode to the ball to make a stop. I was very impressed with the defensive line as well, the got solid pressure on Carpenter all night and racked up 4 sacks.

On offense, AJ Green made it official, he is a bad man. He made a couple of beautiful catches across the middle which really kept two of UGA's 2nd quarter scoring drives going. Stafford was excellent as usual, I can't imagine ever saying anything to the contrary. He threw all over Arizona State and as usual, would have had even better numbers if people could stay on their feet or catch. Knowshon...what can I say? His first touchdown was simply an amazing athletic feat. Taking off from the 4 yard line to land a yard + deep in the end-zone, are you serious Knowshown? Do we need to get you a cape? Also, Moreno should've had 3 TD's, the refs screwed him on one in the 4th quarter.

Speaking of the refs...I hate to be the guy to cry about officiating but for heaven's sakes, they were terrible. Granted we made too many mistakes and did commit some dumb and costly penalties, but they made numerous questionable calls and missed a number of infractions committed by Arizona State. I saw a number of blatant holds by Arizona State that were not called. One in particular was on 2nd down and goal on AZ State's first drive of the second half. They ran a screen pass out right and their receiver blocking had his arms completely extended with a fist full of jersey. If that call was made, they likely end up having to kick a field goal instead of scoring a touchdown on 3rd and goal from the 2 yard line. Anyway, it doesn't matter I guess. We won, we dominated, we were better, and so on and so forth.

And now the fun part starts. A blackout in Sanford Stadium for a night game against a Top 10 opponent. Alabama has looked good, they are very strong and powerful on their offensive and defensive lines. UGA will have to play very well to win and I expect them to do just that. I heard Mark Richt addressing the team and coaches on Saturday night after the game. He talked about going all out for one week, everybody just toughing it out for 7 days with their best effort to get ready for Alabama. For some reason, the energy of him and in the room put me at ease. I am calm and feel we will play well and win fairly handily on Saturday night.

One final thought: Being that everyone knows Saturday is a blackout and that the team will wear black jerseys-is it kosher to berate and belittle any UGA fan not wearing black?

Love you Larry

So it appears the legend has called his final game for our beloved Dawgs. The voice we have all associated with Saturdays in Georgia will no longer be heard and there are no words to describe how much he will be missed. We will always remember ‘Oh you Herschel Walker’, to ‘Run, Lindsay, Run’, to ‘Picking up our heart and putting it back in our chest’, to ‘Stomping their face with a hobnail boot’. Life is too short and we knew it was inevitable but it doesn’t make it any easier to know he has called his final game. I will drink a beer for you tonight Larry and I promise after we beat Florida this year I will destroy some property in your honor.

God Bless you Larry.

Why?

These guys are big stars? Just look at them, are you kidding me? Oh wait, they also are all virgins and have vowed to remain chaste until marriage. I'm all for people following their own personal beliefs and committing to their own goals, etc. but are they serious? Granted I have no idea how or why they are stars but the fact remains, they are. If you are that big a star and have all kinds of teenage ass at your disposal, you've got to drop the virgin thing. You only live once, you can behave when you're older. These dudes should be filling up sleeve like a foot fills a sock, they are idiots. The worst part is, once their 15 minutes are up, they will again be 5'2" douche bags whose only talent is to play the skin flute. Way to go fellas, great life decisions.

Week 3

It could not have been a more typical UGA-USC matchup than what we got on Saturday. A lot of good defense, a lot of missed opportunities, and a low-scoring game where the outcome was in question until the end. While I had hoped that this would be a coming out party for our offense against a quality opponent, it wasn't meant to be.
Unfortunately we left ourselves with too many tough 3rd down conversions to really put together a solid rhythm. I blame the offensive issues on:
1. South Carolina's defense: Clearly those outside the SEC don't agree but I'd say they are a top 15 defense in the nation, probably top 10.
2. Mike Bobo: Worst game he's called since last year's Kentucky game. I don't
want to completely say it was him though since Stafford has so much freedom at
the line, but there were a few real bad play calls. (QB draw from the 6 on 3rd
down ring a bell?)
3. Tripp Chandler: His dropped pass on the first drive for UGA cost the Dawgs at
least 3, if not 7 points. He had another 3rd down drop later in the 1st, it
was highly frustrating. Others dropped passes-this isn't a bash fest on
Chandler, but I wouldn't be being honest about my game thoughts without
mentioning him.

However, we still fought hard and our defense played fantastic to keep us in the game and take us to 3-0. I thought Rashad Jones looked fantastic all day, I found it fitting that he would be the one to make the final pick to end it. Rennie showed again why he is the man with his forced fumble on the 1 to keep UGA ahead 14-7 in the
4th. The D-Line was good against the run but we've got to get more pressure on the QB without having to blitz. I'm sure that will be a point of emphasis going forward.

All in all, a SEC win is something to celebrate. Everyone will play close games during the season, we just had one sooner than the media darlings USC and Oklahoma. I think the intensity of that game and the fact that we did not play anywhere near what is expected will bring a sense of urgency to the team that otherwise would not exist. I now expect full focus against Arizona State and I really think we win by 17 + points out there. Then we come home and should put a whooping on Alabama, I think Saban will again be embarrassed in Sanford Stadium as he was in '04 with LSU. Certainly the Dawgs have some areas of concern and some issues to address but there's no need for panic just yet. A good couple of games in the next 2 weeks will get us right back where we need to be.

You Suck Clark Meyer

Below is an article from today's AJC that got my blood boiling. Does anyone have any sense of personal responsibility anymore? Has the concept that sometimes, bad things just happen without anyone being to blame, ceased to exist? I hope Crocs wins the case and counter sues against this human douchebag CLARK MEYER. I hope you, CLARK MEYER, burn in hell. Well maybe that's a little harsh, but you know what I mean.

$2 million sought in Crocs lawsuit
Company sued after child’s shoe is caught in airport escalator
By KATHY JEFCOATS

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Tuesday, September 09, 2008

The maker of Colorado-based Crocs is being sued over a July escalator accident at the Atlanta airport involving a child wearing the popular resin clogs.

Clark Meyer, the father of a boy identified in Federal Court filings as “A.M.,” wants $2 million for the injuries suffered by his son on an escalator at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Meyer alleges his son was “severely and permanently injured” when the Croc shoe on his right foot was caught in an airport escalator July 15. Photos accompanying the filing show injuries to the boy’s first three toes and a mangled pair of gray Crocs.

Meyer further alleges that the company became aware of the danger to children wearing the shoes in 2005, the same year it began marketing the popular clogs to the younger set.

Crocs officials have denied their shoes caused injuries and instead cast blame on the wearers and faulty escalators. Company spokeswoman Tia Mattson did not immediately return a call for comment on the latest suit.

Wait, Really?

I'm not so sure this is a good idea, Sun Devils.

Week 2

Another week, another impressive UGA victory.

Central Michigan is not a bad football team but UGA was the far superior team on Saturday. We came out strong again w/ Stafford and the offense looking very sharp and continued moving the ball consistently all day. Knowshown again looked fantastic and picked up 3 more TD's to bring him to 6 through just 2 games. I doubt he will win the Heisman Trophy but if he keeps this kind of play up he will definitely be in New York for the ceremony. His vision and quickness are an absolute treat to watch, every time he touches the ball its all 'oohs and aahs'. I was also quite impressed w/ Mo-Mass, he made a great adjustment on his first TD catch to come back to the ball and turned on the speed on his 2nd. Having a 'go-to' receiver will be a major comfort for Stafford in tight games later on down the line.

The defense was again solid this week. I wouldn't call it a spectacular effort but we held a good offense to less than 20 points. I felt Martinez called a very conservative game again and in my opinion it was too conservative at times. We seemed to be in a lot of zone coverage against lesser athletes-that never makes sense, but we won and probably didn't show too much so I won't complain. I think we'll know a lot more about our defense in 2 weeks after facing a decent SEC opponent and an upper-echelon PAC 10 team. I pray that we blitz the living hell out of USC next week and just play man outside. I don't think any of USC's QB's will be able to consistently get the ball out on time or accurately if we bring the heat.

And now it feels as if our season is truly beginning. No more cupcakes, every team we play from here on out could potentially beat us if we do not show up. 10 games in 12 weeks will decide whether or not this will be a season to remember. I anticipate we will start strong in game 1 on Saturday afternoon vs. USC, I envision a quasi-blowout with us putting up somewhere around 40 points.

Politics of the Day

I was skeptical...

Now I am not.

John McCain selected a conservative, female version of Barack Obama to be his running mate. Her confident, well-delivered speech was something of sheer beauty. She was able to take the criticism of her experience and turn it around to show she has more than Obama (which she does). She blasted Obama for past statements and terrible ideas he has for our country. McCain has gotten himself an attack dog who will be nipping at Obama every chance she gets.

Here's Joe Biden today discussing his upcoming debate with Mrs. Palin:

"When we debate -- and, boy, she's going to be a tough debater, she's going to be a skillful debater -- I'm going to try to talk about the differences of our worldview here and what we're going to do for the country," he said.

"If it's going to get down to who can deliver the toughest lines, then she's going to win the debate," Biden added.

Newsflash to Joe D. Biden (D for Dumbass)-What people remember about debates is great lines with substance. She's going to mop the floor with your old, wrinkly ass.

My point in all this is that since McCain has gotten himself a sharp, well-spoken VP to attack Obama, he can focus more on issues and stay somewhat above the fray. Obama will not have the same luxury; he will have to respond directly if he is to win this election because his running mate is a bumbling wimp.

Full Disclosure: I still am unsure if I will vote for McCain or Bob Barr, I just know that I am not a socialist. Barack Obama essentially is socialist on many issues and Joe Biden is the epitome of a weak liberal and has been for years. I couldn't care less that he knows a lot about foreign policy, doesn't mean he knows the right thing to do and how to handle situations. Basically, its not so much that I love Republicans... I just hate stupid, weak, liberal democrats and that is what 90% of that party has become.

Week 1

Well, the season finally got here and the Dawgs took care of GA Southern as we expected. I've read/heard mixed reviews of the game. Some are positive and focus on our 38-0 lead; others are negative and focus on the fact that we gave up 21 points. I tend to lean toward a positive feeling from week one, but that's just me.

Tickets were few and far between for the game on Saturday; in my 20+ years of attending games I have never seen so few tickets available. I've also never not gotten into a game I went to Athens to see, 2 firsts I hope to never repeat. The fact that UGA was a pre-season #1, playing an in-state opponent, and the game not being shown on TV may have played a factor in the lack of tickets. I certainly hope those were the reasons, I fear that this may become a regular occurrence but I'll be positive and hope that is not the case.

Regardless, I was able to watch the replay of the game last night and I took a lot of positives away from the game. I think Matthew Stafford looked like a different man, almost every throw was perfect and his audibles and play calls at the line seemed to be flawless. Knowshon was Knowshon-he only had 10 touches but had over 100 total yards and 3 TDs. AJ Green looked like a young Randy Moss: tall, lean, athletic, and aggressive. Caleb King also had a good first showing, runs a lot like Knowshon-never a bad thing. On defense I thought we looked good as well. Obviously the loss of Jeff Owens is going to be a test but I thought the young rotation of players filled in nicely and got a lot of pressure inside on both running and passing plays. The 'dynamic duo' of Curran and Ellerbe looked like a force to be reckoned with-I can see CBS drumming up some stupid nickname for them at some point this season. The secondary also looked good-hard hitting safety play with good aggressive corners; I was particularly impressed w/ Jones and Evans.

Finally, I was very impressed w/ Blair Walsh. He seems to be confident and knocking down a 50+ yard field goal in his first game is a great sign for the future. I'm sure we'll need him to be clutch if we are to make a run at the SEC/National Title.

Looking forward, I think it is important to build off the performance of our offense and put up a big number against Central Michigan this week. I think it will be equally important to allow fewer points to build some confidence moving into the USC game in 2 weeks. All in all, I really couldn't be more pleased with our week one performance. Richt isn't going to run up the score on people; we got some good work in and let a lot of young guys play.

P.S.

I'm not mentioning the rankings, I know we dropped to #2-who cares.

Gustav

I don't know why the people of Louisiana are so concerned with this 'Tropical Storm' Gustav.

Gustav hitting them is not an absolute certainty. The only certainty in those Cajuns future is that a Hurricane will hit them on October 25th. And they thought Katrina was a catastrophe....

Only a Florida Fan

So I'm putting gas in my car a little while ago and look over to see a morbidly obese man across from me. I think nothing of it, America is full of fat folks. Then, he slowly turns away from me and I see it, this man has a rat tail. What kind of person has a rat tail you ask? I didn't know either until I saw the man drive off in a mini-cooper with a Florida Gator tag. Everything suddenly became clear. I didn't get a great picture but here he is.

An Admission

I came to a realization this morning while riding in the car and singing along to his latest hit: I am a Chris Brown fan. I just love what he does. I fully support his career and every endeavour he makes. He is a complete triple threat; singing, dancing, acting, and seems to be a helluva nice guy. I too found my realization odd; can I really be a fan of a guy who appeals to teen girls and the 'hip-hop' crowd? Well, I looked my self in the mirror... the answer was yes. I have no choice but to celebrate my man C. Brown.

From 'With You' by Chris Brown:

Hey! Little mama,
Ooh, you're a stunner
Hot..little figure,
Yes, you're a winner
And I'm so glad to be yours,
You're a class all your own

Clarification

This morning, I heard an intelligent local radio host say that the national media and coaches are 'drinking the UGA kool-aid' to have them # 1. His point was that the SEC media clearly has a better grasp on the teams in the SEC than the members of the AP and Coaches Polls. He couldn't believe UGA was picked #2 in the SEC east and then #1 nationally. This has not been the first I have heard or read about this, I've been hearing it from idiot South Carolina and Florida fans since Media Days. Frankly though, I don't really care, I just get frustrated by the lack of common sense.

At Media Days, the SEC media picked the favorites in the conference. They were to take into account the schedules played.

The AP and Coaches Polls rank who they think the best teams are going into the season. These Polls are not in any way a prediction of anything. They are not supposed to take into account scheduled games in the future, they rank teams based on expectations in the preseason, the roster, returning players, etc. Then in the season they rank them on who they feel is best combined with wins and losses. Even in the season though--teams don't move up or down based on who they play the upcoming week. You don't hear, "Well, Alabama was 9-0 and ranked #4 but moved down this week to #8 in anticipation of their final stretch of games vs. LSU and Auburn."

While I disagree w/ the SEC media since I'm a biased fan, they were completing a task where one must look at the schedule to make a prediction. This is completely different than ranking the top 25 teams in the country. I imagine many of the SEC Media would tell you they would rank UGA higher than Florida but b/c UGA's schedule is so tough and grueling; they picked Florida to win the SEC East.

If you're going to try and belittle or 'hate-on' UGA, at least use an argument with some common sense.

And I think I am 'ranted-out' for awhile. I just get so worked up with all this anticipation for the season.

We're Less than two weeks away...

Christmas is here on August 30th when we can finally see the beloved Dawgs take the field. Gone will be all the preseason questions, assumptions, predictions, rankings, etc. I can't say I'll miss it, I love getting excited about the season but with the high expectations for UGA this year, it has been ridiculous. I'm sick of reading and hearing every 'expert's' opinion based on what he's read, heard, etc. Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one and some of them stink. And now for a dose of hypocrisy as I write my opinion looking forward.

In looking to what UGA needs I'll just throw out some general things I think. Obviously we need to take it one game at a time. I think we'll know what we're made of after week 5-will we be 5-0, 4-1, 3-2? Hopefully 5-0 but an early upset to say USC or Arizona State doesn't necessarily sink the ship. We were the hottest team in the nation last year, had we woken up 3 weeks earlier we certainly would have been in the national championship. I think the way the team looks and plays/avoiding injuries will be key. If we come out looking like we did against Troy or Vandy last year-I will not be feeling good. If we come out like we did against Florida or Auburn-I will be encouraged. This is not to say b/c we start or don't start well that it guarantees a good or bad rest of the season, it is just my opinion that if we are going to compete for a national championship-the team will have a tangible intensity that we will notice each and every week.

I say all this because starting with the Florida game last year I honestly could feel a different energy/intensity from the team. Even against Kentucky when we played poorly, I still felt it. I have never felt that intensity/focus from a UGA team before, its not something I can specifically point to but it just 'felt' different. Even years ago when the two David's took us to Jacksonville undefeated, I felt like we were flying under the radar, questioning if we belonged in the upper echelon or were ready for the hype. Same thing w/ Shockley's team of 2005, but starting with Florida last year I felt no doubt that we were of 'Top 3' caliber and believed it/played like it. That will be what I want to see early to really hold out hope that we can navigate our brutal schedule. I'd rather be 4-1 and see that same intensity than be 5-0 with a couple of crappy games where we squeak by but play down to the competition like we have in years past. Obviously I hope we'll be 5-0 and focused/intense and eventually 14-0 w/ me sitting in the Dade County Jail for streaking down South Beach after the Orange Bowl.

Finally, even though its a 'curse' and means nothing and I hate that teams are ranked before October....

This is kind of cool, never seen this before:
#1 in AP
#1 in Coaches

and...

Quit Hating on People, People

I wanted to talk about UGA football today but Trinton Sturdivant, our best offensive lineman, got hurt so I don't feel like it anymore. From what I'm seeing it appears the Bulldog Nation is freaking out. This annoys me because we have great depth and talent at OL and probably have the best OL coach in the country. While this does hurt, I would not go as far as to call it a catastrophe. I'm sure more fans have a decent perspective than I've been seeing but a lot of the stuff I've been reading today is ridiculous. We as fans need to understand that we are indeed 'fans'-not experts, coaches, part of the team, and that there is no award for being 'the biggest fan'. And mark my words, people who try to be 'the biggest fan' probably aren't life-long UGA fans, real fans or alumni, and are potentially band-wagon fans who aren't quite as vocal or interested during down years.

Anyway, there is more to discuss but like I said, I don't feel like it.

Instead I'd like to discuss one of the 5 greatest actors of the last 30 years, Tom Cruise. The one time 'biggest star' in Hollywood has now been relegated to some sort of laughing stock. I honestly do not understand why people have such hatred for the man. People hate his religion, his views on worldly topics, his personal life, and more recently have begun to attack his acting. I can appreciate that people don't like his personal life, it is not a lifestyle most people can comprehend or relate with. What I do not get is why his acting seems to have been under attack. Not even 5 years ago he was widely considered a top actor, now he's viewed as a former 'box-office draw'. It's one thing to say he's gay or something b/c you're jealous of all the women he's had and his current wife, but to question a legend like Tom's acting...absurd.

Top Gun
Rain Man
A Few Good Men
Jerry Maguire
Magnolia
The Last Samurai
Mission Impossible I and III

And these are just a few classic performances...

The man is a superstar and I don't care about actors or athletes personal lives. I am a man who appreciates talent and Tom Cruise has more than enough to go around. Just look at this picture, it tells all you need to know about Tom, a simple fact that should be evident to anyone...T.C.'s game is pimp-tight.

Not to be insensitive, but....

I needed some way to relieve my sadness so I went searching for entertainment and fun this morning. I have found it. Why exactly is this a problem?

Seduce away, Miley, age is just a number. She clearly feels 18 so I feel we should honor her feeling.

A Sad Day

I was shocked and quite saddened yesterday to learn of the death of an absolute legend in longtime Atlanta Braves announcer Skip Caray. Rarely do I allow the death of a 'celebrity' or public figure to upset me but this one is truly the exception to my rule. When I heard the news I literally felt like I had lost an uncle or something. For my entire life I have lived in Atlanta and followed the Braves. Skip Caray has always been a part of my life in that way and I've always revered him for being the voice I associate with Braves baseball. Not to mention the fact that he was absolutely hilarious, his dry sense of humor and blatant honesty were truly unique and a pleasure to listen to.

God Bless you Skip Caray, you will be missed.

Sell, Sell, Sell-C'mon August 30th

The Braves have been so abysmal to watch and follow over the past month that I have not been able to stomach making a post about them. I have continued to follow them with the vigor I always do but it has been brutal. This past weekend and last night were all just awful.

Story of the season-Every good player we have has been hurt and Jeff Franceour is an absolute head-case. I have supported him and wanted to love him as a player but he consistently shows he is a hard-headed moron with the approach he takes at the plate. He is the new Andruw Jones...except with less of an upside. I hope one day to have to retract my statements about him but I don't see it happening. His attitude about being sent down to the minors last month said it all-he thinks he's too cool for school. Newsflash Jeff-you aren't.

As far as what to do from here I am hoping and praying the Braves get rid of Tex by the trade deadline that is fastly approaching. For one, we won't be re-signing him at the end of the year anyway and secondly, I can unleash my charicature of him called 'Big Bi Tex'. Although I don't particularly care for Tex and don't know what has gone on behind closed doors, I will say I am also not particularly enchanted with our new GM Frank Wren. With the money freed up from Hampton and Glavine at the end of the season with Smoltz also a major 'if' for next year, why did he not take a shot at Tex for maybe 5-6 years at $18-20 million. I know Tex said he wasn't talking about it during the season, but I guarantee you he would've listened if they came and offered him a contract like that. Again, that may have happened but it doesn't seem like it when you listen to Frank Wren-and that my friends, is not good general managing.
---
Anyway, I am getting more and more geared up for football season and the beloved Georgia Bulldogs. I am staying cautiously pessimistic about the season thus far and am glad I have. It appears quite a few 'die-hard' fans have been upset by the recent 'disses' to the Dawgs in the media with predicitions and preseason teams. Being a seasoned fan, I knew better than to get caught up and this and saved myself the frustration.

Bottom line: UGA will have a good team, don't know how good. People shouldn't expect
things to be that much different, same coaches as in years past and a lot of talent. I hope I'm surprised but I don't expect to be impressed early in the season. I imagine Martinez's defense will be tentative early as always and the offensive playcalling will be questioned. People will be upset about why Stafford and Moreno aren't putting up the big numbers. My hope is that we can get by early games w/ USC and Arizona State and be hitting our stride by Alabama weekend.

Even thinking about the national championship right now is a stretch. But I think to legitimately have a shot we need to be heading into the LSU game without a loss. Not that its impossible to go undefeated from that point in the season; but chances are you are going to lose a game when playing LSU, Florida, and Auburn away from Sanford Stadium over 4 weeks.

And finally...

I would love the opportunity to get locked into a room, cage, car, etc. w/ Urban Meyer, and not like when him and Tebow get together. I want to 'tear his nuts off'*.

Bucky Covington

They say lightning doesn't strike twice. Whoever 'they' are is wrong b/c it has recently. I have an interview I'm ready to share with another 'American Idol' heartthrob. I sat down with Bucky Covington recently and here is how it went.

L: What's up Bucky, thanks for sitting down with me.
B: No problemo esse, anything for the fans.
L: I notice you have an affinity for spanish, are you fluent?
B: Actually yeah, you got any beer?
L: What?
B: You asked about fluid and yeah, I'm thirsty, I'd like some-preferably in beer form.
L: Oh okay...here's a Miller Lite, all I've got...
B: Mother F***in right, you know they won the beer cup like 4 times or some sh*t.
L: Yeah, I know
B: Well, ain't that some sh*t. You know, I love when America wins sh*t. It's like
the rest of the world just has to sit back and watch, ya know. Like 'hey, we're the
best and we just showed you again', ya know.
L: Sure, well do you mind if I ask some questions?
B: Naw man, it's my mother f***in pleasure, shoot em up cowboy.
L: Ok, how's the career going now for you?
B: Pretty good man, I swear its like a dream. Except I ain't woke up yet and it keeps going. Its like this dream I had as a kid. I used to watch 'Saved by the Bell' and I would dream about Kelly Kapowski at night. In my dream I'd be like a cooler Zack, ya know. Except no PG sh*t. I'd be knocking the p**** out in the locker room, Mr. Belding's office, in the Max on the juke-box, I mean everywhere. And it was like the dream went all night, needless to say it was a sticky time in the sack, ya know.
L: Got it, so you're saying your career is going amazingly well. Speaking of ladies, how are you doing in that department?
B: Same old, a few hotter pieces now than before. I don't 'scriminate against p***y, just not how I was raised. I get them eyes, ya know where you see a b***h's eyes sparkling or some sh*t, and that's it, I'm all in that. Now I've just noticed the faces can be a little easier to look at but whatever, p***y's p****y and I'll always get it.
L: Lucky man, you keep up with anybody from A.I. anymore?
B: Oh yeah man, Daughtry and me are practically brothers. Can I get another beer.
L: Yeah...here (hand another beer).
B: Anyhoo, me and 'ole C.F.D., ya know Chris F***in Daughtry, are solid. I can't really say too many stories 'cause he's married and sh*t, ya know. All I can say is we talk every single day, we go out whenever we're together, just brother sh*t. I've actually started calling my d*ck Daughtry. Chicks dig it dude, its like 'hey, you want me to put Daughtry in you?'. They're all like ''f*** yeah' Bucky', so I do.
L: You're a trip man, I was kind of hoping to keep this more about career and some
more 'family-friendly' stuff but that seems tough w/ you. What can you tell me that's I can actually use?
B: You sound like you could use some d*ck, you f***in p***y.
L: Real nice Buck
B: Dude, go to hell. I've got my fans, I ain't got to sit down or change for no man. I am who I am and is who I is, ya know. You just tell people Bucky F***in Covington is the realest Mother F***er on the planet and you got to chill with him and have a couple beers. You got 'dat, esse.
L: Si, thank you so much for your time, I guess we'll cut this short.
B: See what you little b***h?
L: Nothing man, thanks for your time.

Back and Better than Ever

I've been away on vacation and have had other issues keeping me away from this fantastic blog, but I return...

Not much has changed with our beloved Braves; Frenchy went and came back and who knows if anything will change, more folks got hurt, and we're still in 4th place.
There is a lot to talk about with the Braves but I will wait until the All-Star Break to better gather my thoughts.

And now I will delve into the hilarity of last weekend:

'Hurricane Corky' hit Atlanta this past weekend. Here's a Summary.
-Gets severely intoxicated alone at 3:30 in the afternoon at an 'On the Border'.
-Rents a hotel room and goes bowling only to wake up in the morning with no idea
where his car is.
-Performing a 'Superman' from the song 'Crank That' in the hotel the prior night
-Mixing drinks with actual juice from a watermelon all day on the 4th of July and
becoming quite intoxicated
-Having the same girl from the prior night over, he now refers to her as his
'girlfriend'.
-Nearly popping an air mattress twice w/ his new girl
-Performing chair jumping tricks at a local pool the next afternoon
-Harassing Astros' outfielder Hunter Pence in every at-bat at the Braves game,
Pence went 0-4
-Nearly reaches 3rd base in the backseat of his own car in front of 2 friends on
the drive home
-Having relations behind a bush in an apartment complex parking lot-15 feet away
a father and son were lighting sparklers
-Having relations in a room and having 3 friends walk in on him, he does not stop or
even get embarrassed

And thus is Corky...

A man with no match.

Daughtry

I may have fallen into an opportunity to speak with Chris Daughtry recently. I may have posed as a writer and may have gotten a weird interview, or I may not have-my memory is terrible. I can't even believe it myself but here it is.

To help make sense 'L' will be me asking the questions and D will be for Chris Daughtry's answers and comments.

L: Thanks for talking to me man
D: No problem, happy to do it
L: So your band has had quite the success after the release of your debut album, did
you expect it?
D: Absolutely, when you put great artists together it's like striking a match against
a box, you're going to get fire.
L: Yeah, but sometimes the public doesn't respond, did you have any concerns that b/c
you came from 'American Idol' that the public wouldn't receive the album well.
D: Like I said, no doubt in my mind this would work out. I assembled a band of
pure talent and I have faith that my voice could carry a group of almost no
talent. People always come up to me and tell me how just my voice alone inspires
them and makes them feel good. It's deeper than the sound of my voice or the
moving lyrics, it's something I'm told is spiritual. I connect with people and
no one can teach that, I have a gift and it is my duty to share it and reach out
to people through my music.
L: Okay, well some people do not take you serious as a rock artist though, I've
talked to a few. How do you respond to that?
D: Again, anyone who doesn't like me or the band is ignorant or deaf. I promise you
anyone you claim said anything like that has not listened to 'Home'. Just the
hook alone lets you know what I'm all about. (Daughtry sang the hook) 'I'm going
home, to the place where I belong' (actually 3 times he sang it). I mean my voice
hits those word as pure as snow, tell me you don't have chill bumps.
L: I do, I had chill bumps just getting to talk to you. Let's switch gears. How
do you stay in such good shape, your body is pretty much perfect?
D: Well I disagree, I'd say my body is perfect. I take care of myself, what can I
say. You should see the way women react to me. It's like this, I'm gonna let you
in... One night me, Ace (from A.I.), and Bucky Covington all go out to this place
in L.A. Now Ace and Bucky are both ladies men who do better than most people
dream, I mean we're talking A list stars I'm with. But all night we're sitting in
the VIP and all the honeys want to talk to me, its like Ace and Bucky don't exist.
If I wasn't married, I would've definitely been all on some of that if you know
what I mean.
L: Got it, thanks for that. I hear you and Ace have actually written songs together,
is that right?
D: Yeah, Ace and I are soul mates in a non-sexual way. Basically we get together
somewhere private, strip down naked with a bottle of red wine and candles and just
write, man. We wrote 'It's Not Over' in like 2 hours one night, I swear their were
angels in the room guiding our pens, just beautiful.
L: Interesting, I didn't see that one coming.
D: I need to wrap this up, I'll give you one more.
L: Okay, let's see. 100 years from now, what will people say about you?
D: Hmmm, tough one. Basically I think they'll look back at a guy who was bigger than
music, a guy who crossed lines of age, race, wealth, nations. A guy who made
everyone better and who made a difference just by opening his mouth and singing.
I think when its all said and done I'll be like Elvis times 2, bigger than 'The
Beatles', 'Rolling Stones', you name it. I think it'll be about the music I made
and more. It'll be like that but also with the reverence people have to great
artists like Rembrandt or something. I see it as a deal where people will feel
like they missed out not being alive when I was. I don't know though, I'm just
getting my career started
L: Thank you so much Chris, really enjoyed it.
D: You bet.

A semi-rant

I just cannot get over the fact that Obama may be our next president.

-He doesn't wear a flag lapel-I don't care but what kind of message is that if you are President and you refuse to wear one for any other reason than "I don't want to" or "I'm allergic to cheaply made Chinese metal".

-He has been a member of a quasi-Christian church with Jeremiah Wright as pastor, a man who he has called his 'spiritual-mentor'. The teachings of this church have elements of communism and racism towards anyone who is not black. Oh, almost forgot, they honored Louis Farakkhan as their 'man of the year'. The basis of their theology is essentially the black panther movement combined with Marxism.
-How can you separate yourself from this church you participated in for 17 years?
-He also attended a Muslim school for a couple years as a kid-no big deal though,
who is the war on terror against?

-He called his own grandmother a 'typical white person', you're half white you dumb ass!

-I'm keeping this short, it is just a semi-rant after all but he's married to Michelle. I don't have the evidence I need to call her a complete racist but just look at her and listen to her-is it that hard to imagine?

Sleep tight, our country might as well stamp a ticket to Hell if we elect this man.

From bad to worse

The incredible run of injuries continued again last night. Glavine left early with an elbow injury and is on the DL. This afternoon word came down that Jurrjens sprained his ankle walking down the stairs last night after the loss and will miss his start and may have to go on the DL also.

So 4/5 starters listed on opening day are out with an injury, along with Moylan, Gonzalez and Soriano. We're also missing our starting centerfielder, and left fielder. We might as well be missing Francoeur with the lack of production we're getting from him.

I hate to wave the white flag so early, but things are not looking good. Every team has to deal with injuries, but this is absurd, and almost close to impossible to deal with.

On a positive note Morton will be called up this weekend and it will be exciting to see what he's got. I'll still be watching and rooting, but this is frustrating.

Frenchy and Politics

The Bravos pretty much put themselves behind the 8 ball for the time being with their sweep at the hands of the Phillies this weekend. A bad road trip over the next week and a half and this season could potentially be as good as done.

FRENCHY

Because I love Frenchy so much as a player/person it is difficult to watch him play so poorly. I am baffled as to why a player with so much talent cannot seem to hit better than this. It is reminiscent of the Andruw Jones days with the main difference in the fact that Frenchy is much smarter than Andruw and seems to want to learn and do well. From what I've heard, Andruw would listen sometimes but was very stubborn for the most part and difficult to coach. Although commentators and the like seem to enjoy picking on how much Frenchy swings at bad pitches, I don't feel that is the main issue. Not that I'm an expert but it seems obvious that 2 things are wrong, they are somewhat intertwined: 1. Frenchy has a large whole for pitches away, in particular pitches that are up or away. 2. This correlates with his poor timing, he seems to be getting started very early or very late. His average and power are not anywhere close to where they need to be. Either he is a head case, or Terry Pendleton is doing a terrible job with him.

POLITICS

With the 2 candidates set, the campaigning for president has begun and I've heard quite a bit about it from the news media. What I don't understand is why all we hear about is what the other side does wrong and what one side thinks is right. Where are the ideas/solutions to the major issues we face? Obama and McCain have given maybe 1 or 2 specifics on what they plan to do and then a lot of general rhetoric that is essentially meaningless.

Gas is $4 a gallon and all that is being done is arguing and stupid bickering. We have other countries drilling for oil just miles from our coast but American companies are not allowed to because of our nation's concern for the environment. We as a nation are blinded with concern for 'certain catastrophe' looming with this global warming issue. Guess what liberals, idiots, yes-men....Global Warming as we know it and its supposed causes is flat out BULLSHIT. I will not argue that there may be environmental issues that need to be addressed but Global Warming is not one of them. The same scientists that can explain the Ice Age and patterns of the earth's climate now somehow think that a trend of Global Warming is certainly our fault as human beings? How asinine are these people? Their are numerous fallacies in the evidence and much evidence to dispute the fact that Global Warming exists but now politicians from both sides almost all seem to agree we need to address this. We will waste billions of dollars in a sour economy with record gas prices to curb something that does not exist. I do not have the time or energy to go into specific examples of the problems with the argument that Global Warming exists but I challenge any sane person to research this on their own and see what they find.

The thing that baffles me the most though.... Al Gore championed this movement. The same bumbling idiot that claimed to invent the Internet.

Other than the stupid issue of Global Warming we have many other problems which or current politicians seem either unwilling or unable to solve. I feel disheartened with my choices for President and feel disgusted with our government. Bear in mind that I feel John McCain is a typical politician who will do little to nothing to help point our country in the right direction before I say this...

Barack Obama is the most frightening candidate I have ever seen for president. He is wrapped up in radically liberal ideas and will push these ideas onto Congress to put into action. Our country is in enough trouble, the last thing we need is an inexperienced Socialist running the show.

That is all I have to say for now. I feel better.

A recap and a rant

Its been quite a week for the Braves. The week started with the news that Smoltz was coming back and returning to the bullpen. We had a 1 run lead headed into the 9th, and the doors swung open and out comes Smoltz ready to lock it down. I got goosebumps seeing that again. Unfortunately, it wasn't a happy ending at all. Smoltz blew the save thanks in part to some shaky outfield play, but Escobar saved the day. Tuesday was impressive, we came from behind and picked up the first win when trailing after 7 innings all year.

Wednesday word leaked out the Braves scheduled a press conference with Smoltz and Bobby. This is never good. I went at lunch to watch the press conference and got the stomach punch we were fearing. He has to have another shoulder surgery, and some speculated this would be the end. As always Smoltz was defiant and plans on rehabbing and coming back if at all possible. I hope he can, he's one of the 5 greatest Braves and he deserves a better ending to his career. What's amazing is that he was hitting 95 mph even with a bum shoulder. To add insult to injury, in the game that day Manny Acosta (more on him later) gave up 4 runs in the 9th to blow the game for the Braves.

Thursday was fantastic. Another great comeback win from the Braves. But the true highlight of the night was Chipper Jones. 4/5 with this:
Career homerun 400. He hit the ball 1 section over from us. The reaction he got from the fans was fantastic and it was great to see him come out for a curtain call. Watching him right now is just an absolute treat.

And this brings me to my rant. We are far too talented to be a .500 team and struggling with runners on base. Last night was the perfect example of this. Yes, the game should have ended with an easy pop fly catch. It shouldn't have even gotten to that point where 1 run made a difference. Twice we had the bases loaded, and twice we came out of it with no runs. We had 3 runners thrown out at home, including a botched suicide squeeze, a botched sac fly and then a close play at the plate in the bottom of the 10th. It shouldn't be blamed on any one person, but Francoeur has drawn my ire, as he was the man that came up both times with the bases loaded, and both times he failed to drive in any runs.

I hate to question Bobby Cox, because he's great at what he does, but for the life of me, I do not understand why Frenchy continues to hit in the 5 spot. Chipper is getting on base 50% of the time. And Brian McCann his hitting over .300 and leading the league in doubles. Why not hit McCann behind Chipper, its going to increase the chances for McCann to drive in runners. Tex is going to have to start making more of his chances as well. Teams are starting to intentionally walk Chipper, and he's got to be more productive so teams will think twice about that.

Hopefully the team won't let last night affect them for the rest of the weekend, these close losses are so frustrating and in a tight race I really hope they don't come back to bite us in the ass.

Pimp My D*ck

As I watched the Braves game last night I was thinking about what I would say after they won a close game on the road....

but they choked again and lost. My frustration level is getting quite high with these 'road-woes'. I cannot write anymore about it now.

However, I came up with a great new show this morning while watching MTV's 'Pimp My Ride'. My show will be called 'Pimp My D*ck'. The penis is a body part that is essential in the game of 'pimping' and thus is perfect for a new show. I'll have Xzibit show up at men who have penis issues' door and will pull their pants down and tell them he's there to "Pimp their D*ck".

You may be thinking, how can this happen?

Here is just a little preview on what this can be:

Xzibit gets the guest on the show to explain the issues w/ his penis. We have X examine the guest's penis and laugh at how pathetic it is and how much work it needs. We then go into a montage of past stories of the trouble the guest's penis has caused him. Finally the guest arrives in front of the doctor's at 'West Coast Custom Crotches' and proclaims to all 'Pimp My D*ck!'.

Just to scratch the surface of what can be done here....

This one is easy to envision, no further explanation needed.

Again, pretty easy to envision. Imagine how pimp it would be to replace your sac with fuzzy dice.

Racing stripes would certainly add horsepower in the bedroom...Pimptastic!

And last but not least, a custom light. It's like having a flash light available at all times and anytime you have sex, you can say you are spelunking.

I'm in talks right now with multiple networks to develop this show. I think I'm really onto something here.

Batting Stances

Les' Look at Life Events

Now I am not speaking for everyone here, but I have observed something recently that I don't understand.

Why do I feel obligated to tip a bartender but not the pizza guy when I choose to pick up a pizza instead of getting it delivered or when I get a Sub at Subway?

Since I do not drink liquor usually, a bartender just gets me a beer and hands it to me. If I have a tab I leave at least a 15% tip and if I am paying cash I will usually leave $1 each time I get a beer if I'm in a bar. Even at Braves games I'll leave 50 cents for the guy who gives me a beer from the cooler.

Yet if I walk into Papa John's to pick up a pizza they just made or into Subway for a sandwich, I just pay and leave. The pizza man made a pizza-more work than a liquor drink or opening a bottle. The Subway guy/girl made a sandwich-again more work than a purveyor of drinks.

There are small arguments that can be made about the differences b/w these things but basically they should be the same. At the core of their jobs a bartender is no more helpful than a 'Sandwich Artist' or a 'Pizza Chef'. Yet b/c his product makes us feel good, we owe him tips?

I'm not prepared to start a revolution over this. I certainly will not be tipping Papa John's or Subway people b/c I'm cheap, and the establishments charge too much as it is. At the same time, I don't want to be the asshole at the bar who doesn't tip.

So onward I will go, tipping some and not tipping others, although they essentially deserve the same fate.

Other things I don't understand and may elaborate on at some point:
-How exactly does a telephone work? Not just the normal answer, a detailed explanation of the how/why a voice can be transmitted and heard clearly
-How a fax machine works?Along the same lines
-Why many people care so much about animals that they decide to join PETA, yet are fervently pro-choice?

Oh Jorge......

Jorge Campillo was excellent in his first start for the Braves last night. Funnily enough, the Godfather yelled at him in the bullpen on Sunday and he stared the Godfather down for probably 3 seconds with no response before turning around. Initially I was upset with Mr. Campillo's reaction but after watching his interactions with his teammates last night I realized something.... Jorge probably doesn't speak English very well. That or some big, drunk dude yelling at him isn't something he's a fan of.

Regardless, Jorge looked as though he may be able to work his way into the rotation. He absolutely mowed down the Mets in his 6 innings of shutout ball last night. One thing that particularly impresses me about the man is his team picture, it cracks me up. He looks to be so deep in thought and possibly thinking of eating some tacos or something. If a picture is worth 1,000 words then 997 of those words for this picture are 'tacos'. The other 3 are 'Give me some'. And don't think I'm assuming he likes tacos because he's Hispanic. I am assuming it because he's fat and because I am an expert at new age energy release. I can sense the energy beaming from him as a bright red and orange spiral, I then use my superior intuition to narrow this energy down into what it will manifest itself into.... that my friends is a love of tacos.

I've only seen that energy from one other person, the Godfather-Matt T. This is bigger than finding the Titanic, I have found the 2 biggest taco lovers in the entire world.

Success at a Price

Well, the goal this weekend was to attend Saturday night's Braves game but getting tickets turned out to be quite an issue. We waited to get tickets at the gate and paid the price for it, the lihne extended for probably a 1/4 mile and it was decided that it was not worth it to wait in that line. Thus we ended up at a restaurant to watch the game.

Redemption came yesterday though as a last minute decision to attend the Sunday afternoon game was rewarded with a win. Jo Jo Reyes looked pretty good again and the Braves got a win. Frenchy still sucks, his poor play is beginning to become a problem and its really annoying me. Frenchy makes so many poor decisions at the plate, I think thats why he frustrates me so much.

We did sit in the 'Chop-House' during yesterdays game which was pretty enjoyable. We had a man-waiter bringing us beer all day, nothing better than that. Unfortunately, no Miller Lite on draft so I had to drink Bud Lite-I wasn't happy about it but I felt I had no choice. Apparently the Oakland A's do have some fans in Atlanta as quite a few were at yesterdays game. I never realized the trashiness of the A's fans, but they are quite the sight. One lovely young lady decided to wear some shorts that were about 4 sizes to small with a nice green tank top that was also way too small. She had fat rolls coming out everywhere, I literally almost vomited. As always w/ people like her, she thought she was hot. She strutted around like she owned Turner Field and kept her head high as if every guy was checking her out. Don't get me wrong, most guys would still hit it but it wasn't a pretty sight.

Now the Braves have got a pretty big stretch coming this week. The Mets come in town tomorrow and then the Diamondbacks this weekend. My record for the year is at a solid 5-2 and talks have begun to trying to stretch it to 6-2 tomorrow night. Nothing beats heckling Mets fans so it might get pretty ugly.

A Great Weekend

Game 5 for me this year took place last night and the Braves got the win to bring my personal record to 3-2 for the year. Weather was a concern yesterday but fortunately the rain left town early to make for a lovely evening. The game itself was awesome as the Bravos brought out the bats and hit the ball all over the yard.

The Tomahawk Thrust was again unveiled w/ passionate fury that cannot be described in words. The man who performs this dance, G-stein, chose to wait until the 6th inning to break it out but once he did bedlam ensued. The fans in our section were wildly supportive and were in absolute awe of G-stein and his dancing. Stein even got a little competition from a 12 year old who is well on his way to holding one in his mouth 'til the swelling goes down. Unfortunately, the 12 year old wasn't like most people of his persuasion as he was an awful dancer. He was persistent though, and made it on the big screen-much to his delight.

Chipper Jones is fulfilling my early season prediction for him thus far, this is great news considering some other Braves haven't started playing well yet. I love Frenchy but something seems to be wrong with him so far this year. Not only is he not hitting for power, he isn't hitting the ball hard. Hopefully his being married isn't draining the strength out of him b/c if it is, time for a divorce. JoJo Reyes actually looked decent last night as well which is very encouraging. With Smoltz likely out of the rotation, we've got to have someone else step up. Reyes clearly has the talent, just a matter of using that pea between his ears.

Anyway, a solid weekend for baseball and beer. The Miller Lites really went down well yesterday. I'd say as far as drinking beer goes, I've had as good a season as Chipper Jones.
